I still poke by randomly. I'm sure you guys might remember me from back in the '01 days, but I really can't remember what my username was... MouserX, can you help me out. I was the only other person who lived in your home state. What was my username? Anyways, I'm glad to see things are still going, and hopefully the direction is more forward than back.

It started with a "z." Zapzoo, or something like that perhaps? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else? Did you ever write me a letter? Gangis did mail some letters ro me. I'd still have them (I rarely throw stuff away, if I can avoid it. This is especially true for letters of any form). If you did, I might be able to find them, and see if your name was on there.
Anyway, just to note, my PC is currently dead (bad power supply), so this post comes to you from the Wii ('typing' in the Wii browser can be a pain). Just thought you people might like to know that the browser works pretty good, for most sites. Mouser X over and out.

More forward than back? Maybe sideways... We're having to focus on things that are really important now, namely the things we've been neglecting... like the core theory behind the game. That's why Gangis recently put up "Mathematician" under the Now Hiring section. We don't need anyone really THAT high up, like a doctoral student or anything... we just need someone who's still practicing. I could do it myself, having capped my mathematics education with Calculus III, except that I haven't done it for two years...

hey hey, sorry again that there has been such a long period where I hvaen't been around. I don't remember if I ever posted it or not, but I finally got out of the telephone tech support and am now in the hot tub business.. only building but since I'm not on a computer for 10 hours a day anymore, I forget to stop at some site occasionally.. I hope everyone is doing well. Mouser that sucks about the power supply, but they are relatively cheap to replace now a days if you know where to look. kenji, if I come across anyone who would fit the bill of mathmetician I'll see if they would be interested in working with you guys.

Thanks. Right now, I'm ironing out concrete design concepts, narrowing it down further and further until the point where we have a definite, concrete system with formulae to back it up. That's the most immediate goal. After all, once you strip away graphical representation and artistic elements, a game is - at its core - a series of numerical formulae that tie together into a cohesive system.

I actually have a zapz00 in my AIM list right now, so there's a good chance that was you, actually. =P
And yea, still checking this place whenever I can remember. The design looks awesome and I'm glad to hear about the progress.
About the math, I'm more than willing to help out. Sadly, I've only reached Calc III and Discrete myself, so I'm sure you can find more qualified candidates. But if you just need number crunching or non-theoritical/simpler statistics, I'm your man.

@ Redtooth: I'll pass the word to Gangis, as I'm sure he'll want to know this. That way, we can talk seriously about this. @ jono: Let me put it this way: we could do with more. Lots more. lol

This is a storyline question so i understand if u rather not answer.
Will the story take place in a world 5 years after the fall of the Kingdom of Guardia and the disappearance of the Masamune as depicted in the "Life Skips a Beat" scene in the PS port.
Or do u consider the time line that didn't happen in to be the primary time line.
This is my fist post here and hope to be able to raise many questions that no one else has thought of, even if i don't post on this forum vary often.

It's possible that the story has changed since last I heard (years ago), but back then, they were going off of CT for the SNES, and were ignoring the PSX port, and Chrono Cross. As I said though, that may have changed.
Beyond that, I wouldn't want to say. I can't remember what information they have, or have not, given out. I hope that answers your question. Mouser X over and out.

I remember someone saying that Chrono Cross would have some small influence on the story, but I doubt that means that the game will start off in a bleak time line like that anyway. My question just seemed like an interesting and unasked question to ask. Wow, it seems like I asked that question longer then 4 weeks ago. I guess not many people post because of not having much to talk about anymore. O well, I'm looking forward to the game and want to see it finished more then I want my question answered, so I'm fine with the lack of activity on this forum if it means keeping the game secrete to avoid bring ended before it can begin.

Yeaaaah... I suck. Seriously, though, I feel pretty bad about forgetting to answer questions like that (so much to do, so little time, not to mention that forum activity here is pretty sporadic so I can go week without knowing someone posted). So, without further ado, let's get down to it. Some of you may have seen the news post I made on Chrono Compendium, which gives a very basic introduction to the plot, the main character, and the initial setting. I'll recap it here and, hopefully, some of Shalakor's questions will be answered... The basic premise of UCT2/CI is to go farther down the track that CC started. That is to say, to not just do time traveling in the exact same way again, but to try something different and relevant. This is partially because the original story I was working on, which had pretty standard time traveling a la CT, was getting some insurmountable logic problems that would prove a fatal blow to the story's integrity. Since it was always my intention for the conflict to be beyond time (i.e. I didn't want to redo the Lavos thing with different cast members), it became an unavoidable problem. This was what caused me to look to the concept of traveling through dreams, which cuts to the heart of the Chronoverse. Simone would gain the ability to affect time and space through the indirect means of affecting peoples' hearts and minds and travelling over a sort of collective unconsciousness through the relationships that people have formed. In that respect, it's entirely possible for her to affect the past if she, say, interacted with Crono's dreams. The timeline that the story takes place in is further altered from what's inferred in CC. The war between Guardia and Porre has taken on a different face and character, thanks to the actions of several parties. Instead of ending quickly in AD 1005, due to the interference of someone outside of the normal flow of time, the war dragged on for years. The decision to make Simone the main character was mostly due to character balance. In other words, unless she and the other new cast members took the spotlight, they would always be over-shadowed by the CT cast. Also, they would be able to experience everything as if it were new, unlike Crono and the rest. Rest assured, though, these old characters will have their integral roles to play in the story. So, with that, I return to your original question regarding the importance of CC. Compared to its prequel, CC's action takes place over an extremely condensed timeframe, not to mention that CC hasn't even "happened yet" when UCT2/CI starts. Of course, its effects are integral to everything that has happened. If the Chrono Cross hadn't been used and a linkage between the physical world and the Tesseract (Darkness Beyond Time) hadn't been established, the events of this new plot would be impossible.

Redtooth and MouserX Yeah. Zapz. That was it. I miss the old crowd. The UCT2 boards were hopping, oh about 6 years ago.

Oh, hello. It appears I have Zapz listed on my ICQ so there's a good chance it was you. I used to go by handle 'Mech Assassin' way back in the day. Good to see old folks still around.
On another note, Kenji, that sounds really interesting, especially the choice of 'dream travelling' and a different approach to the time travel scenario. On a sidenote, I claim to be able to make a logically solid explanation for Chrono Trigger's time travelling with a physics-wise sound theory that doesn't directly contradict any of the canon though, but it does go against some allusions in the game. Still, it sounds like that's quite thought through a plot. I can't wait to see what will come out of it in the end.

Actually, the problem came in the form of character motivations, specifically the motivation of an entire faction. It really was, for the most part, irreconcilable, since Time Traveler's Immunity not only was the cause of the problem, the means to fix it, but also the reason why there was no reason to fix it. Yeah, sorry I'm being so cryptic about it... Anyway, I'll be putting my maximum effort into this, so I hope it turns out well, too. More importantly, I hope everyone here gets to see it before too awfully long.
