Thank you, that would be appreciated! What I'm looking for is somebody that's familiar with open standards like OpenGL, SDL, etc.

Wine really isn't as bad as you'd think. Not that that it's a benchmark by any means, but i get better performance playing WoW on wine than i ever did when i ran XP. In most cases, the fps drop is less than 10%, and it would save putzing around with MinGW to get SDL to work in a windows environment.

Wow. Thanks for the info. Gangis! That stinks about the programming. It sounds to me that, if it wasn't for that, you'd be 80% (more?) done. I'm sure this isn't currently an option, but have you considered the Torque engine? It costs about $100 to get the source, but once you have it, you can do with it whatever is necessary. Do keep in mind that I doubt that's an option. I just figured that it couldn't hurt to mention it. GarageGames is the maker of the Torque engine, in case you didn't know.
Anyway, thanks for the update. Good luck on a programmer. Sorry I can't help. Wish I could... Mouser X over and out.

sorry I haven't gotten back to you about that friend yet Gangis, I haven't yet asked him, when I posted that last message, I haven't actually had a chance to talk to him as of yet, but since exams are almost over for him, I should be able to ask him shortly here.

New to the forums and I skim through the pages to get here so I dunno if my question has already been asked. Anyway, my question is if the UCT2 would continue right where CT left off or would it continue a little times afterwards. For example will Crono and Marle be married at the start of the game and will Kid be in Lucca's care? Or will the game start before all this happens?

I guess it depends on what you need but I'v done quite a bit of programming in c, c++, and java.
I have been learning openGL but am still new to it so am probably not much help with work on the core graphics. If you needed someone to write other things like resource or model loaders I could prbably help.
Also game logic, menus and collision detection i'v done alot of, although mainly just in 2d though.
Just thought i'd offer.

@ luminaire: Well, without giving too much away, as part of the fun of a story is not knowing what's gonna happen beforehand... It could be said that the story takes place "after" the temporal reunification of CC... since nobody knows (yet) exactly what happens at that point, it becomes fertile ground to arrange events however I want. Originally, UCT2 was made to not take CC into account, so any involvement with the CC cast or events is bound to be tangential or not so readily apparent. As far as Crono and Marle are concerned, this story starts about a decade after they return to the Millennial Fair at the end of CT. A lot has happened in the meantime, which will be revealed as the story progresses. @ jono: Thank you for the offer! If you have a portfolio or something, then by all means, send it our way!

"Though, I've been watching UCT2 since 2001, or so. To my knowledge, Gangis and I are the only ones that have been sticking around that long"
Hey come now, I'm still around. I remember the original boards and discussions with you and mech. =P
I've just been trying to kill my addiction to message boards, including ones which are semi-dead. I still check for updates at least once a month on the front page though, so there ;D.
And the other host was Nexile. RL friend who I haven't talk to in a while either. But yea, I remember quite a bit about the history...I just wish we had had IRC...that was the only thing I knew how to keep logs of at the time. =P
And Gangis, that sounds too bad about your programmer situation. But I have faith. Honestly, I have no intention to ever abandon looking over this great project.
I really wish I could help you out with your needs, but sadly I have since quit CS and my programming is limited to Java and some C++, no more than just a beginner. Give my friend a few years, he's a huge CT fan and he'll have a CS degree by then. =P
Funniest thing is, when I originally thought of become a CS major it was half because the stuff was fun, half because I wanted to someday help on a project like this. And honestly, I still do want to help, except my programming is obviously too limited. But project history is something I can certainly help with! I can eventually check what I have saved from this site back at home.
Oh, and of course, whenever the game is done, I will be all over translating it into French and German. Sure, I can't do anything towards the project specifically, but will help it in my own way, somehow, damnit. =P

I haven't really got a portfolio so I got the source to one of my past projects and inluded it in an email to the gangis gmail account, it's got a bit of talk about what I've studied so far and what I'm competant at. No pressure to get me on board if I don't meet the requirements, I'm just offering a hand I'v been lurking these and the other forums for so long now that I can't remember. Well off to continue my travels in the wonderful world of ogl. Jono

@ luminaire: Gangis already mentioned a site redesign. It's my intention that, when that happens, story details will start to be released to build up the new world. Setting, characters, that sort of thing. I'm currently thinking of ways to do it that'll be (hopefully) interesting...

A question_. Have you guys ever thought of making a UCT2 myspace_? It could probably help bring more attention and members to the site_.

"Though, I've been watching UCT2 since 2001, or so. To my knowledge, Gangis and I are the only ones that have been sticking around that long" Hey come now, I'm still around. I remember the original boards and discussions with you and mech. =P Heh. Sorry about that. I don't see you all that often, after all (online, that is). It's nice to know that there's still a few dedicated people here. On that note, I honestly don't recall the last time I checked these boards. It's been longer than it should have been. And Gangis, sorry about not getting back to you on AIM... It's been so long since I had an IM client installed/working (I don't actually have on installed. I'm using Meebo, which is a web browser based IM client), that I'm not used to it... Nice to see the site/boards having some life though. I look forward to anything you guys may have hidden up your sleeves. So, it looks like the team's thoughts on CC have changed, then? Or, it's not really a sequal to CC, but it might address some of its information? Originally, CC was essentially going to be completely ignored. This is no longer the case, right? It might not have an easily notable influence, but it's still being addressed? Also, and this comes as no surprise, it looks as though the "first act" of UCT2 has changed somewhat since I last heard about it (which was in 2001, so a change doesn't surprise me at all). Is this the case? Just out of curiosity, how much of the "first act" is included in the revised version, percentage-wise? As in, influence, content, etc. I'm just curious, and you don't have to answer that, if you feel it would be an issue. As I said, the "first act" I read is years old. It'll be interesting to see how it changed for the final game. Mouser X over and out.
