I've seen longer, but you're right. For as long as it is, it's a difficult read (even if it's only because of its length)(that's a lot of "it's" (in varying form)). Please see my reply about the post order of the people here... I explain my stance on things fairly well, I feel. After reading that, (and taking into account that I probably didn't get anywhere near enough sleep), you'll probably at least understand my sentiment on that long post.
As for not playing much MM games, I can't blame you. I've played very, very few myself. However, as you've said (elsewhere, I believe), you do like RPGs. The Legends series, while not a RPG, certainly has its charm in that area. I read a review today that said it should have been titled "Megaman Raider." As I've never played any of the Tomb Raider games (which is what I assume they were infering to), I can't say how accurate that is. However, I can say that the Tomb Raider series (any of them) have never interested me. But, I did love the MML series.
If you don't want to play MML, then you should try Megaman X: Command Mission. It is a true, full blown RPG. I haven't finished it, but it's pretty decent. Personaly, I'd say the MML series is better, in quite a few important areas. However, as it is played with multiple characters in your party, some of those parts can be forgiven, even if I don't much like it.
One of these major differances is realtime battles. In MML, you actually run around and shoot things. In MMX:CM, you run around, and have random battles which bring you to a separate room (like most turn based RPGs do). MML is a much, much more explorative world, because you can go almost anywhere. That requires an explanation, using MMX:CM to compare against. In MML, you can jump, and move the camera around to see where you are, or to look up, or down, or aim at a specific location with your weapon. Though there are lots of boundries where you can't go (it's quite obvious, as the grass/ground cover changes color), it feels like you have more freedom because you can move more freely. In MMX:CM you can't jump, and you can only move the camera left or right, in a circle around MMX. Even though there's areas that look quite nice, I can't get an even remotely good view of it because I have almost no camera control. Also, as a small sidenote about the poor camera, the map on MMX:CM blows big time. It's 99.9% useless. Just so you know.
Well, I've discussed the issues that really bug me the most about MMX:CM. I really really really really don't like turn based battle systems. It's not realistic at all. I mean, really, If I'm fighting a dragon with a sword (nevermind that the sword has ranged attacks, oddly enough), am I going to stand there and watch as the dragon breaths fire onto me? Of course not! I'm going to run for my poor, pathetic life. Then, while the dragon's recovering, I'll sneak up behind it, and give him what for! Yah, I prefer realtime battles, bigtime. I really like the Zelda series for that reason. Also, Secret of Mana does an excellent job at that as well (and in a way better). That's one of the major things I liked about MML. If there's something you don't like, shoot it! The camera control (or lack thereof) was the other thing that I really can't stand. Last, the freedom of movement. Not being able to jump really hampers the feel of the game.
Another thing about the freedom of the game was in MML, it was obvious where you could, and couldn't go. In MMX:CM, it wasn't obvious at all. I think that's what got me the most. There were places that I thought I could go, but when I tried to go there, I'd run into an invisable wall. I think that if they had set it up so that it was obvious where I could and couldn't go, I wouldn't have cared nearly as much.
All in all, I liked MML more. However, MMX:CM is still a good game in its own right, and, as a RPG, rather well done. As I said, since you have multiple robots in your party, doing realtime battles in that scenario is rather difficult, so that is acceptable, though not prefered. Basically, don't compare MML with MMX:CM as they're not the same game, and weren't ment to be (and yes, I'm telling you this, even though I just did it myself).
Last, but not least. As I have played MML, I was quite intrigued how MMX:CM tried to incorporate some of the MML taste into itself. If you ever play MMX:CM, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that you at least play some of MML, just so that you can find out for your self what MMX:CM was hinting at with some of its character and art designs. Yes, they're 2 very different games that stand in their own way. Nonetheless, it's nice to see Capcom throw in a flare here, and a hint there, trying to bring all of the MM games together into one continuous story (which they are, surprisingly).
Again, sorry for the long post. Obviously, I've put a lot more thought into the MM universe (most recently) than I have the CT one... I really should go where stuff like this (what I'm talking about) is the norm... But I just can't seem to find the interest in those forums as I do here. Oh well... Anyway, sorry for the long, exaustive post. Hopefully either, you'll get used to it, or I'll start posting shorter messages (better get used to it, by the way). Mouser X over and out.

i've thought of playing them but i just never really get into it, mostly because the only way i'm gonna be able to play most of them is emulated on my computer, and i can't do that for very long as i have a buggered hand from puching a brick chimney years ago. yea i know its due to my own stupidity, but i didn't want my mother to pay for my anger.

Check out: DARTH MEGAMAN X!!!!! I was working on the MMX models for the cutscenes for my game and somehow ended up creating a darth vader head for megaman. I might just have to use this for my avatar.

LOL! I think it's quite hilarious. Yes, if I wasn't such a fan of Megaman, I'd use that as my avatar for sure (I'd feel bad about making fun of MM, as some people might assume I'm trying to say that MMX is evil, which I wholehardedly do not beleive (though I will say some of his ideaoligies could use reformation)).
Obviously, I like it, as a joke. I gotta go now. I have a bus to catch. Be back in 2 hours, maybe? Mouser X over and out.

very true, although i don't know what other people may think, especially those who are really loyal to the MM series. when they see the Darth Vader face on MM.

You could do what I do. I have an adapter that allows me to use a PSX, DC, or GCN controller on my PC, through the the USB port (geez, that's a lot of acronyms). It was about $20, if I recall correctly, though you can find them cheaper (though it usually won't be able to handle anything more than 1 PSX controller (which is about all I use on it anyway)). If you're going to emulate something, that's the way I would recommend you do it. That way, you have the original gaming pad to work with so your hands are more use to the controls, and you have more control over what you can do (since a keyboard can only do so much). You can find them at lik-sang, among other places. If you want, I can provide a copy of the US Demo disc for MML2 so you can get an idea of what the game has to offer (I really really want the JAP v. of the Demo disc, as it contains a lot more unseen data (levels, events, minigames, ect.)). Anyway, hope that helps somehow. Chronoct: I would have replied to your post, but I ran out of time. Perhaps later. Mouser X over and out.

Well, I was working on my MMX model (it's nearly complete now, just needs hands, a real head, and touch ups to the legs) and I just finished the helmet when I remembered I had started working on Darth vader some time ago. So I just went ahead and finished that part of his head and thought it would look cool with Megaman for some reason. It was kinda hard to make it proportional to the helmet but in the end it turned out great. I should try it with different power schemes (as in different colors for the various powers Megaman might have) and see just how awesome it can look. I must say it looked pretty cool with a black/yellow color scheme that I tried.

I bet it did, if you do decide to do the other color schemes, can you show us them?
