I've played Skies of Arcadia for the Gamecube. Awesome game. It comes highly recommended. I recently started playing through it a second time (to my knowledge, I've only played all the way through CT, Zelda4: Link's Awakening, and Megaman Legends 1 more than once. MML2 might be in there as well, but I can't remember). Then, after I was about 1/4th of the way through the GC version, I found out that Skies of Arcadia could be emulated. I happened onto a site that had over 800 screenshots from in-game, all of them 1024x768 resolution. Since I've had a very small number of high-res shots on my PC for a long time, I've been looking for more. I now know where they came from. In-game screenshots using the Chankast emulator, which emulates the Dreamcast. So, I got the emulator, and all the necessary auxillary items (including Skies of Arcadia CD images), and have been happily playing SoA at 1280x1024 on my PC. It even runs full-speed at that resolution! As for the site with over 800 screenshots, I'll have them beat, if I finish this game... I'm already at over 400 shots, and I'm not even 1/4th of the way through the game yet... In case you're wondering, I'm pretty sure I'm overdoing it for screenshots. On the other hand, if I ever put all these shots on the internet, you won't have any need to play the game... Though, the game will take less space on your HDD than the pictures do. It's already about 1gb in size, but that's largely due to them being saved in PNG format (I wanted it to be lossless).
Anyway, for those who missed the opportunity to play this awesome game, I suggest you look it up, and try it out. Also, in case you're wondering, I started this thread simply because I was slightly bored, and I wanted to attempt to bring more life into these boards. On top of that, it's a great game, and deserves some attention. I've seen multiple copies of the game up for download. So far, of the (at least) 5 images I've downloaded, only one of them is a non-corrupt copy that will successfully patch so that it will run in Chankast. The CD itself will run in the original DC, which is why the corrupt copy keeps getting passed around. However, to play it in Chankast, it requires patching, to remove the intro screen that the CD rippers added to the game (if you don't patch it, it won't get past their intro screen). If you do want to try it though, I definatly suggest finding a copy. Use CDcheck and CDmage to make sure the disc image doesn't have problems. If it does, see if CDmage can repair the errors. It worked for me on one of the images I downloaded, bring my successful images up to 2 of 5, instead of only 1. Sorry, I don't actually know what sites are hosting/torrenting the good copies...
On a completely different note, I looked through the member list. 2 people signed up on Dec. 17th, 2004, and 1 person signed up on the 18th. Mp3guy and I signed up on Nov 2nd, 2002 (I think that's the date). I'm pretty darn sure that's wrong though, since I was in South Carolina at the time, and didn't have computer access to sign up... Oh well. I do think it's pretty funny.
With that, I shall go to bed. Good night (for me). Mouser X over and out.

Yeah, I made this forum back in 2002, can't remember what for, but I used it for multiple things, anyway, eventually I deleted all old members, then made this board, so the way I figure it, on the proboards server I was account #1 and was registered on Nov. 2nd, and account #2 was registered on Nov.3rd 2002, but that person had since been deleted, but when you registered, your username was assigned to account #2 on their server, and the reg date was never updated.

It definately looks like an awesome game.. and I've had it for almost a year now.. and I sitll haven't gotten around to playing it. On top of work I have games on the PS2, Xbox, and Game Cube that I need to finish. I have something like 15 or more games totalled that I need to even put into my machines at some point. and alot of the ones that I have played I haven't finished. Part of that is due to the fact that I've been playing alot of World of Warcraft for like the last 5 months. yea I know I'm pathetic. but it is sooo damn addicting ;D But I will get around to it eventually.

That's the site I found that informed me that the game was playable on the PC via emulation. I got a lot of pictures from there. But, they're only 1024x768. Sure, that's good resolution and all, but when I'm running 1280x1024, it's not as crisp. In fact, it's a little blurry looking to me. So, I figured I'd go all out, and get some really nice shots. For those who do want to try this game out, or want to get their own shots of specific locations in the game, I can send you my save files. Currently, I haven't deleted a single save game, and I've saved at every savepoint, everytime. I've filled 3 (at least?) VMS units with saves so far, and I just barely got out of the Temple of Pyrnn (I haven't even fought the ship battle for that yet). If you looked at my saves, you'd realize that I've over done it on those as well, since some of my saves are from a mere 5 minutes apart sometimes. But hey, it makes it super easy to get to any point in the game you want to get to, in case you want more shots of that area. Actually, this thread reminds me... I was going to play this game once dinner was in the oven. I started watching "Malcom in the Middle" (T.V. comedy show) instead... Dangit... I wonder if I still have time to finish this upcoming battle? /me leaves to play SoA now. Mouser X out.

In my current game, I'm not even remotely close to that part yet. So no, I don't have a save from that point with my game. However, I do have a save from someone else's game from that point. If you go to www.emutalk.net you'll find the "Chankast" message boards (in the Dreamcast section, of course). In there, you'll find a thread called something like "How to patch Skies of Arcadia to play it in Chankast." If you don't see it, do a simple search for "Skies of Arcadia." I'm sure it'll show up. I that thread (first post I beleive) is the patch, and software needed to install the patch. Also included in that bundle (I think it's about 3mb), is a bunch of saves from different points throughout the game. One of them is a save from the start of CD2. So, if you load that up, then you'll have the Delphinus. Hope that helps in finding the save game you were looking for. Mouser X over and out.

[EDIT] I did a quick Google search for "Skies of Arcadia prequal" and none of the results seem to show evidence that a prequal is out, or in the making. Hopefully you can shed some light on this. Due to laziness, and the lateness (read: really freaking early in the morning, and I haven't been to bed yet) of the hour, I opted to not alter my original post which is below.[/EDIT] WHAT!? I haven't even heard of it (I've heard rumors that it might be in development, but they were extreamly vague, and didn't sound entirely promising)! Please! I beg you! More information!!! Anything at all to help me find, and buy, the 2nd one! It's a great game, and I'd love to see more. If, however, you're refering to "Skies of Arcadia: Legends," then I'd like to inform you that SoAL and SoA are basically the same game, but the GC version has a little more added content. If it's a game that doesn't go by the title of "Skies of Arcaida," or "Skies of Arcadia: Legends" or "Eternal Arcadia" (the Japanese name), then PLEASE tell me anything at all that you can about it. Believe me, I would remember it and be forever grateful to you! In other news, I haven' t beaten the Dreamcast version yet. I'm getting pretty close though. Not yet in Soltis, but I believe that's where I'm going next. So, for those who wondered, I got a save file with the really cool airship that flies above the cloads a long time ago (months, most likely). Because I have a job now, I no longer have hardly any time to spend playing games (though, I greatly wish I did). If anyone wants any saves, or pictures, let me know. We can see if we can work something out. I currently have over 1500 screenshots in 1280x1024, and they fill over 3gb of my hard drive... The saves though, clock in at less than 3mb (and I've saved at almost every opportunity possible, so there's a very good chance that I can get a save that fits your requests). Dang, if there's a second one out, I want it... Now that I have a job, I can even afford to buy it! Please, reply soon! Thanks in advance for any information, whatsoever, you may have regarding a 2nd game in the series. Mouser X out.

I appreciate the link. Though, it looks like that's from 2003, which is a bit of time ago... In other words, while I think that's pretty cool, I also think that "planning stages" doesn't mean much. Especially since it's now 2006... Hopefully though, we'll still see a sequal (on the Wii? That'd be pretty cool, for the flight of the airships, and perhaps battles...). Though, considering the lack of information about it, I'm not going to get my hopes up.
As for Baten Kaitos, (the original, and the sequal) it looks pretty good. But, from what I've heard, make sure you have the voiceovers disabled. Apparently the voice actors for the game were pretty bad.
And last, I must say, I'm impressed with how quickly you responded. Do you recieve emails when people post, or something? Considering the life this board gets, your response time was phenomally short. Anyway, don't worry about it. You would have gotten the same response if you had said that "Beyond Good and Evil" had gotten a sequal as well (and I haven't even beaten that one yet). Though, that would have been for slightly different reasons. Mouser X over and out.

nope I don't get any sort of notification, I just tend to check the boards a couple of times per week.. even when I'm at work and not supposed to . I wasn't even aware of how fast of a response it was, I just saw a new post and replied.
