I really need some help here, the HD on my laptop died (head crash) so I need to replace it with a new one. Problem is, I don't have much cash. I'm looking for a 30-40gig at the minimum, and these cost $100 everywhere I've looked. If you're willing to sell me some, please email me and name your price. I will pay via PayPal. I don't really care if it's been used as long as it works and passes all sorts of tests. Thanks a lot! gangis [a.h.t] gmail [d.a.w.t] com [a.h.t. becomes @, d.a.w.t becomes . but I'm sure you figured that out already )

Actually, I could use something like that as well... Someone had a laptop that died on them. Since they didn't want it anymore, they gave it to me, minus a hardrive. Based on what they told me (and what I can see with what I have), the hardrive went bad on them, so all I should need is a new hardrive. Even if the it's more than a bad HDD, I can still use it, since my desktop is actually running XP off of a laptop HDD, which seems to be going bad (it's gone through the "scandisk" thingy at least twice, and turned up bad sectors both times. That's usually a bad thing).
Basically, I guess what I'm asking is, what sites do people recommend I look into for a laptop hardrive with an empty wallet in mind? Cheap is number 1 priority here. 2nd is size. Hopefully at least 20gb, though, if the price is right (free comes to mind) smaller would work as well. Of course if someone turns up a 40gb HDD for $50 to $70, I'll consider that as well, though Gangis gets first dibs on any such deal!
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. I check back here often enough that, if you turn anything up, I'll find out about it if you post here. We can go from there.
And Gangis, just wanted to say this, in case I don't get the chance otherwise. I was glad I could come over! I'm flying home on Friday (this week), so I guess this is goodbye for now. Thanks again! It was great being able to hang out (when we both had the time, of course). Mouser X over and out.

I don't know how helpful this'll be to you guys but I stumbled upon this site and it seems ok. www.cheap-hd.com/There's a 160gb hdd for $50 (that's with a rebate but wow that's great). The laptop hdd's are a little more expensive but they're still pretty good price wise.

They have a few 40gb laptop HDs for about $70. That's not to bad, based on what I can see. However, it's still more than I can really afford right now... If it was $30 cheaper, then I would almost certainly do anything I could to buy it. However, I won't see a price like that anytime soon, I'm sure...
On a side note, I need to go now. Though I REALLY don't want to do it, I think that I am now going to shut myself off from the outside world. In preparation for the move ahead of me, I am going to shut down my computer, and pack it away... Dag nobit, I don't want to do that (I like listening to my music). In other words, this is good bye for now. Because the house I'm moving to is a rental, I might not have net access (well, the house does, but my computer probably won't, as there's only 1 room in the house that can get online... And there's already 7 PCs in that room, so that they can have access to the net... Talk about a LAN party! To bad most of them are probably 100mhz or so... With no 3D card...). Anyway, I need to get going. Oh, and by the way, thanks for the site. It looks helpful. Mouser X over and out.
