Sorry for being quiet lately, I've been going through some problems. Some of you may know that CompUSA closed 126 stores nationwide... Well, I worked at one of these stores. Most of my time has been spent job hunting and the like, so I haven't had as much time as I would have liked to work on UCT2. However, I wasn't entirely idle. I know I have hinted at a site redesign a while ago so I wanted to give you a little teaser on what to expect. It's not entirely final yet, but it will be pretty close to the final product. www.uct2.net/NewUCT2SiteDesign.png

Good to hear it's moving along, I started following this project when I was 12/13, I'm starting to get the feeling I'm gonna be 22/23 by the time it's done

I think you may be right, mp3guy, the way things are going!

A quick update -- we decided to postpone going "live" with the new site design until next weekend since we need to add a few more site elements and expand on some sections. In the meantime, I've already created a new skin for this boards that looks similar to the new site. Just go into Profile at the top menu, click "Modify Profile" and go down near the bottom and choose "UCT2 Version 3"
Feedback is appreciated... It didn't come out exactly the way I wanted to, but that's because of limitations with Proboards.

I think the new skin looks much more interesting than the old grey one. It also suits the new site layout better aswell.

So Gangis, will you be going "live" with the new site today as scheduled? Just wondering.

Unfortunately, we didn't go "live" on the 3rd as scheduled since I was out of town. I had tickets to see Lisa Lampanelli in Orlando and it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

Nice job!
In my opinion, it would look better if you stayed with Verdana (and all that other stuff) for the whole site. I just like that font - it's a little more spaced-out than Times New Roman.
Also, you can probably resize the Nadia background to just fit Marle, and then position it. I'm not sure it'll make all too much of a difference from 20KB, but just to simplify things some. EDIT: Didn't think too much about that comment. I dunno if that'll make things easier.
Damn, I love Firebug - unless it ironically bugs out.

Whoa, nice extension. I love it already, thanks for mentioning it. I tried making it smaller but because the width of the space between the left border and the table itself is variable depending on window width, I couldn't get it to work. I know it seems hackish but it does work well. As for the font, I went for Times New Roman because it just looks good on parchment. I tried Verdana but it didn't quite blend in.

Yeah. My brother prefers the Web Developer extensions, but I found it a little too awkward - especially the textareas on the side for editing source. Not to say that Firebug doesn't have its down sides, but it's still kick-ass, especially for DOM inspection and javascript testing/debugging. I wish IE had something like it, but then again, I wouldn't really care since I don't use IE, except for testing purposes - and I've learned to hate the living crap out of it due to this. The IE DOM Explorer is just a plain-out piece of crap.
I see what you're saying about Verdana, that it doesn't have enough 'edges' (I don't know the technical name for it) to fit in with the parchment, but I still like the font. That's just me. I'll see what I can find along the lines of 'parchment-compatible' fonts.
EDIT: I didn't find all that much. Maybe Goudy or Garamond, but those aren't too much different than Georgia (I don't think it was Times New Roman I was looking at), and I don't know how 'common' they are.

Wow, the new site looks great. And you did a great job with the new skin. It looks better than the other V3 one.
Keep up the great work! And good luck with finding a new programmer.

Dang... I haven't checked back here in too long of a time. Nice site design! It was a big surprise for me, since I haven't been checking the boards. It looks nice, and adds a good style/atmosphere to the site. Also, glad to hear about the progress in development. Sorry, but I'm no programmer. Good luck on that though. Mouser X over and out.
